How We Verify Listings
What "Verified" means
A business with the ✓ Verified badge has had its name, phone number, website, trade category, and region independently confirmed by us as of the date shown on the badge — not submitted by the business itself, not scraped from an aggregator, and never guessed. If we couldn't confirm a phone number or website, we leave it blank rather than invent one; you'll see that noted on the business's own page.
Not every listing has this badge yet. Our original set of businesses predates this tracking; we're re-confirming those over time. An unverified listing isn't necessarily wrong — it just hasn't been through this specific check yet.
What the BBB badge means
The BBB badge shows a business's letter grade from the Better Business Bureau (bbb.org), gathered directly from BBB's own listing for that business. It's a real, external, third-party signal — not one of our own reviews, and not something a business can buy from us.
Re-verification
Directories go stale — wrong phone numbers, closed businesses still listed — faster than most people expect. We periodically re-check listings (aiming for at least once a year) and update the Verified date, or remove/flag a listing if it turns out to have closed. If you notice anything wrong with a listing, tell us and we'll fix or re-check it directly.
Our policy on paid placement
Right now, every listing on this site is free, and nothing can be paid for. If that ever changes, one thing won't: payment will never affect which reviews are shown, a business's star rating, or its position in search/sort results. Any future paid placement will be a clearly labeled "Featured" tag alongside a business's normal, unaffected ranking — never a silent reorder. This is a deliberate, permanent line, not a launch promise we might revisit.
